Always Being the One Who Gets Ill

For years, I have felt like I had a weak immune system.

If someone in the office sneezed, it was usually a safe bet that I would come down with whatever they had a few days later. While some people seemed to have a superpower for not catching anything, I was the opposite. Flights, busy places, nightclubs, just being around people during the colder months guaranteed I would end up with a cold.

What made it worse was not just how often I got ill, but how much it knocked me when I did. Symptoms always seemed more severe and lasted longer compared to others who had the same bug. A small cold would last weeks.

Because it kept happening, I eventually had blood tests done to rule anything out. Everything came back normal. There was no clear reason why this kept happening.

I’d Had Enough

This time last year, I was ill again over New Year’s Eve. This then lasted for weeks and led to some pretty severe sinusitis, which completely wrote me off for the whole of January.

That was the moment I decided to properly look for a natural way to support my immune system, rather than just accepting that I “get ill easily”. I was not looking for a quick fix or anything extreme. I just wanted something sensible that I could take consistently.

That search is what led me to olive leaf extract.

After researching it properly and looking at the evidence, we decided to create our own olive leaf extract capsules at Supp. I started taking them daily around mid-June this year.

I did not expect anything dramatic. I just wanted to see how my body responded over time.

What I’ve Noticed Since

Since starting olive leaf extract, I have only had one small cold.

What stood out straight away was how different it felt. Instead of lingering for weeks like they often did before, it lasted around three days and felt far less severe than I was used to.

I have also been around plenty of people with sniffles or colds, situations that were almost a guaranteed way for me to get ill in the past. This year, that has not happened.

I cannot say for certain that olive leaf extract is the only reason, but the difference compared to previous years has been noticeable.

If anything, this year has been more stressful overall. Work has been busy, and life has not exactly been calm. Despite that, I have felt more resilient with my new routine generally eating better, moving more and sleeping better. I have not had that constant feeling of being run-down or on the edge of getting ill, which is something I used to notice a lot.

For me, that feels significant.

Final Thoughts

I am cautious about what I take long-term. Olive leaf extract has stayed in my daily routine because honestly, I forget about it – just simply take one each day with my breakfast and that’s it.

This is not about convincing anyone to take olive leaf extract. It is simply my experience. For me, since taking it consistently, I have been ill less often, symptoms have been milder when I have been unwell, and I feel more resilient overall. This is not a controlled trial so there are many other factors involved, but from my experience and point of view, it feels like a turning point.

If you are someone who feels like they catch everything going, my experience may be useful as a starting point for your own research and conversations with a healthcare professional.
